I recently had a denial on a unilateral clubfoot when using the Ponseti Method. They denial stated that the diagnosis code was a mismatch to the procedure. They were referring to the uninvolved foot not having a diagnosis of clubfoot (e.g. the right foot was dx with clubfoot) therefore the left procedure codes did not matching the diagnosis of right clubfoot. Has anyone seen this type of denial before or had a similar situation? I argued for the inclusion of the left foot due to using the Ponseti Method as it is required to maintain the abduction/rotation as prescribed by the provider but this was not successful.
